A seller consigns equipment to an IronPlanet auction for lower commission
and cost. The seller then preps the equipment (if they choose) at own location,
and makes the equipment available for inspection.
 IronPlanet sends an inspector to their
yard, and thoroughly inspects the equipment at the seller’s location. IronPlanet
publishes the inspection report on IronPlanet.com and markets the equipment to
targeted prospective buyers around the world.
Buyers review the inspection reports
online and can place PriorityBids before auction day. IronPlanet’s ringmen
solicit bids from interested bidders during the weeks leading to auction day and
on the day of the auction. The buyer places bids online, and on auction day, the
highest bidder wins the auction.
 After the auction, IronPlanet connects buyers
with transportation and finance companies. The buyer pays into a secure account.
IronPlanet confirms payment, and the seller releases the equipment to the
buyer’s transportation company. The buyer accepts delivery of the equipment
while the seller receives payment.
